Spice
He walked the rainbow bridge the other day My little baby, he walked away. I know he's happy in the sky, But I keep asking God, "Why?" He was with us for just two tender years, And now I shed so many tears. I can't stop crying - my baby dying! The thought is too much for me to bear. But my little baby, I know, is up there, He's whole, he's happy, he's everywhere. This hurt won't heal, won't go away, Not tomorrow, not now, not any day. But wounds will mend and pain will dull, And tears will change to laughter in full. We'll remember the moments, The good and the bad. And sometimes we'll be happy, Sometimes we'll be sad. He lived a good life, the best he ever could, He had his ups and downs, like every cat should. He played and he ate, he loved and he lived, Until he passed over the rainbow bridge. We'll always remember him with all of our hearts, And never forget him, in whole nor in part. You had found your true self, your life just begun, Until it was quelled by death's setting sun. But you were not hurting, you felt no pain, You quietly passed, like a gently rain. And how you're in heaven, looking down from above, Never forgetting our unending love. You're home, you're happy, you're healthy, you're whole, I love you Spice, I love you in full. -Poppy Knox
The Miracle Kitty
Spice the Miracle Kitty was born on a warm July day along with his sister, Batgirl, and his brother, Cinnamon. Spice was a handsome cat, with orange and white fur, blue-green eyes, and striped tail. Spice was the most wonderful, most miraculous cat ever born. But when he was still small, a tiny little kitten, he got sick. His nose was sniffly, and it was very hard to see. So, because he couldn’t do anything else, he would sit with his face turned up towards the sun, so he could feel it’s warmth.
One day, a loving family came along and saw sweet little Spice. They saw that he was sick, but they didn’t mind. They loved him and wanted him. Spice was very happy when the family, his new family, took him and fluffy Batgirl to their new home in a cozy house. But even though he had a new home, he was still sick. So his new family took little Spice to the vet. The vet said Spice was very sick. “We should send him over the rainbow bridge,” she said. “Then he won’t be sick and hurting.” But no, his family loved him so much. They wanted Spice to stay with him, rather than go over the rainbow bridge. So the vet gave Spice medicine and sent him home. His new family loved him so much and cared for him night and day. He was very happy – he got yummy food and lots of petting and scratches. But he didn’t get any better, so his family took him back to the vet. Spice didn’t know what happened – when he came home, he wasn’t sick anymore, but he only had one eye! Spice was scared at first, but he soon got used to it. He could still see, just not as well and his family loved him even more than ever. He was a real miracle kitty – it was a true miracle that he was so healthy now. But he had to take medicine every morning and night -YUCK!!!
He didn’t really care too much about the medicine. He knew that it kept him healthy, and his family only gave it to him because they loved him. Sometimes, he even looked forward to medicine time, because he would play a game where he made his family chase him around until they caught him. He always had a lot of fun doing that. Spice loved to sleep in his bean bag chair, but sometimes he could be very cheeky. He would chase his tail until he gave up trying to catch it. He tried to swat at shiny doorknobs and knock things off the counter whenever he had the chance. He loved to eat, too, but was very picky about his food. He would sniff it carefully before eating to see if it was fresh enough. If it wasn’t, he would sit on the table where his family could see him and stare at them with his one eye until they understood what he wanted. When he was satisfied, he would squat down and pick out all the green-colored pieces of kibble with his teeth and eat them. He never ate any other colored pieces of food. He never liked to cuddle and always had a grumpy look. (He wasn’t really grumpy but couldn’t help looking that way) He really didn’t like it when his sister, Batgirl, curled up on top of him in his bean bag chair and used him as pillow. But he didn’t mind it too much when she gave him a bath with her pink tongue.
Spice was a true miracle kitty. He survived being very sick, having an eye removed, and many very scary moments when he shook all over. But he got through it all – he was a tough cookie. Spice went over the rainbow bridge on September 11, 2025. He didn’t want to leave his family, because he really loved them. But he knew that it was time, and that there were so many wonderful things over the rainbow bridge. His family missed him greatly and would always miss him. But they couldn’t be too sad – Spice was in heaven, the best place he could ever be. There, he had two eyes, was never sick and never had to take medicine. He was outside, running around, chasing butterflies and doorknobs and eating green pieces of cat food. His family had taken care of him and loved him so much during his two years on earth. Spice was loved, and loved his family. He lived the best life he ever could have, and now he is finally home and happy – over the rainbow bridge.
